Here at GospelMusicChannel.com, we’re always curious about the place where music and faith intersect – that spiritual (yet very human) connection between our heads and our hearts.

So we’re always curious to talk about music..music in all its shapes and sounds; the lyrics and rhythms that draw us out of ourselves and make us feel more alive.

Starting now and all summer long, we’re talking to artists who are Christians – of all musical stripes. The question?

What are your favorite songs of summer?

Come back every week to find out what’s on the iPods and blaring through the car stereos of your favorite gospel artists this summer. The answers just might surprise you.

This week, Nick DePartee, guitarist extraordinaire for the Portland, Oregon-based rock group Kutless, weighs in on his all-time favorite ‘beat the heat’ tunes. Kutless’ brand new album To Know That You’re Alive, streets June 24. For more details visit kutless.com.

1. "Island in the Sun" from Weezer’s Blue Album
This is just a feel-good track that screams summer...makes me wanna just go sit by the pool.

2. "One Headlight" from The Wallflowers’ Bringing Down the Horse
No explanation needed here. This song just rules.

3. "Give You Back" from Vertical Horizon’s Everything You Want
Yeah. Guilty pleasure band for sure. Great jams for driving in your car, headed to the beach.

4. "Motorcycle Drive By" from Third Eye Blind
This song is such a great ‘driving with the windows down’ summer tune – love this band.

5. "Open Your Eyes" from Snow Patrol’s Eyes Wide Open
Good groove. Good song. What more needs to be said?

6. "Quicksand" from Sleeping At Last’s Keep No Score
Definitely a summer evening song...this chorus gets me.

7. "For The Longest Time" from Sherwood’s A Different Light
What a great pop band! This whole record just shouts ‘summer'!

8. "Here Right Here" from Sense Field’s Tonight and Forever
One of my favorite tracks growing up.

9. "Popstars" from Rooney’s self-titled CD
This band is so beachy, it's probably unhealthy.

10. "On Legendary" from Further Seems Forever’s How to Start a Fire
This band just rocks. It's a shame they broke up, but I will always listen to this album in the summertime.
